ADA Improvements to Pedestrian Access Ramps

ADA RampsBACKGROUND:

In 2014, the ADA Streets & Sidewalk Transition Plan identified pedestrian access ramps in need of reconstruction, required by the U.S. Department of Justice’s ADA Standards for Accessible Design. The City has applied for and been awarded Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding, administered by the County of Orange, for Americans with Disabilities (ADA) Access improvements to the City’s pedestrian access ramps.

PHASE I:

At its meeting on May 17, 2016, the City Council awarded a contract in the amount of $204,350 to CJ Concrete Construction of Santa Fe Springs, California, for construction services for the CDBG ADA Ramp Construction Project, Phase I, City Project No. ST-341. Phase I included the reconstruction of sixty-three (63) ADA compliant curb ramps on eight (8) streets.

PHASE II:

At its meeting on June 6, 2017, the City Council awarded a contract in the amount of $264,000 to Nobest Incorporated of Garden Grove, California, for construction services for the CDBG ADA Ramp Construction Project, Phase II, City Project No. ST-345. Phase II included the reconstruction of sixty-six (66) ADA compliant curb ramps on seventeen (17) streets.

PHASE III:

For this third round, the grant requested is $270,000. This request is to construct seventy-five (75) ADA pedestrian ramps, work is expected to begin in summer 2018.
