Arbor Day Celebration

The City of La Palma will be celebrating Arbor Day by planting a tree! In addition, there will be crafts, presentation of the art and coloring contest winners and of course the planting of a new trees. Arbor Day is a nationally-celebrated observance that encourages tree planting and care. Founded by J. Sterling Morton in 1872, it’s celebrated in all fifty states, Puerto Rico and some U.S. territories.

Youth of La Palma interested in participating in the coloring or art contest may pick up a form at the La Palma Community Services Office or download a coloring sheet/form here:

Tree Sponsorship Program

We are seeking sponsorship from community groups, organizations and individuals to assist with the purchase of our new trees. To donate fill out the sponsorship form and return it with your donation in any amount, payable to the City of La Palma. All donations should be sent or brought to the La Palma Recreation & Community Service Department at Central Park (7821 Walker Street).

Tree City USA

The Tree City USA program is a community improvement initiative of the Arbor Day Foundation, a nonprofit conservation and education organization, in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service.

Growth AwardThe Tree City USA Growth Award is awarded by the Arbor Day Foundation to recognize higher levels of tree care by participating Tree City USA communities. Each year the City of La Palma submits an application updating the foundation on the various tree projects the City has completed during the year. 

In 2017 with the community's support, the City is proud to announce it was again successful in achieving a Tree City USA Growth Award. In addition, it has been recognized as a Tree City USA for the past 21 Years!
