The City of La Palma is seeking Police Officer Trainees. The Police Department has a sworn staff of 25 Police Officers and Ranking Officers who are assisted by civilian non-sworn personnel. The Police Department has assignment areas such as Patrol, Investigation, Traffic, Motors, K-9, Field Training, Administrative Support, School Resource Officer, Special Enforcement Unit, and a Regional SWAT Team (North Orange County).

Special Requirements:
The Police Officer Trainee is a temporary full-time, non-sworn position designed to prepare individuals to become sworn Police Officers. Persons in this position may work for limited periods of time prior to the start of a P.O.S.T. approved Regular Basic Course (Police Academy). Upon successful completion of the Police Academy, a Police Officer Trainee will be sworn-in as a probationary Police Officer. This classification is designated specifically for entry-level police applicants, and/or Academy recruits.
